Medico-Legal Instructions
I accept instructions from claimant and defendant solicitors, as well as from the Court, in matters relating to gynaecological oncology. My role is to provide independent, objective and evidence-based expert opinion in accordance with my duty to the Court.
Types of Instruction
- Preliminary case screening and initial opinion
- Full medico-legal reports (CPR Part 35 compliant)
- Breach of duty and causation reports
- Condition and prognosis reports
- Joint expert statements
- Conference with counsel
- Court attendance where required
Instruction Process
- Initial enquiry including details of parties and issues
- Conflict of interest check
- Confirmation of suitability and scope of instruction
- Agreement of timetable and fees
- Review of documentation
- Preparation of report in accordance with CPR Part 35
Instructions are reviewed promptly to confirm suitability and availability. Where a matter falls outside my expertise, this will be identified at an early stage.
Documentation Required
To enable efficient review, it is helpful to provide a clear and organised bundle of relevant documentation.
- Letter of instruction
- Chronology of events
- Relevant medical records (primary and secondary care)
- Investigation results (imaging and pathology reports)
- Witness statements where available
- Relevant correspondence
Fees
Fees are charged on an hourly basis and reflect the complexity of the case and the volume of documentation provided. Urgent instructions may be accommodated by agreement where required.
Indicative Fees and Timescales
For guidance, the following indicative timeframes and rates apply:
- Screening reports: typically completed within 2–3 weeks
- Full medico-legal reports: typically completed within 3–4 weeks
- Hourly rate for report preparation: £250 per hour
- Fix fee available for screening reports
Please note that I reserve the right to decline instructions that fall outside my area of expertise or where a conflict of interest exists.
